Meet Christa

From a young age, people have had a habit of telling me their life stories, sometimes within minutes of meeting me. I was often described as an “old soul,” and I quickly realised that my open, down to earth nature helped people feel safe, understood, and comfortable being themselves.

Unsurprisingly, this led me into social work, because when people already treat you like their unofficial therapist, you may as well get qualified. I went on to complete a BA (Hons) in Social Work and had a long career supporting people through different stages of life, working confidently with individuals of all ages and with a wide range of social, emotional, physical, and mental health needs.

What I loved most about this work was helping people recognise that they were not broken or in need of fixing. They already had strengths and inner resources, they just had not been shown how to access them yet. I have always been drawn to a solution focused approach, supporting people to feel empowered, capable, and in control of their own change rather than reliant on services to rescue them.

This way of working had a real, lasting impact on people’s confidence, self esteem, and overall wellbeing and it is exactly what I bring into my hypnotherapy practice today.

My Story

Before I knew hypnotherapy even existed, trying to balance a demanding role alongside becoming a new mum left me feeling lost, low, and out of control. Like many people do, I tried to regain control by controlling everything. My routines, my environment, my work, and myself. Perfection became the goal, and burnout was the result.

Despite my background, I found it hard to reach out for support. I worried that opening up would be seen as not coping, either as a professional or as a mum. So instead, I looked for something different or at the time I thought ‘more discreet’.

Having already experienced the powerful mindset shift that hypnobirthing gave me, I was drawn to solution focused hypnotherapy. The sessions changed my life. By simply understanding how my mind worked, the issues that once felt overwhelming began to ease. I felt calmer, more confident, lighter, and an even better version of myself.

That experience led me to retrain as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist at the Clifton Practice in Leeds. I changed my career, changed my lifestyle, quit smoking, and let go of my constant need for control. Life began to feel enjoyable again.

With my years of social work experience, you are in safe hands. I’ve seen and heard a lot over the years, so nothing here is going to surprise me, except maybe how quickly you start feeling better.

If life feels heavy, confusing, or a little out of sync, I want you to know this, feeling calmer, more confident, and more like yourself (maybe an even better version) is within reach. You don’t have to go through it alone, and you don’t need to wait until it’s unbearable to reach out.
