Is Hypnosis/Trance safe?

We often go in and out of trance in our daily lives, usually at times we are concentrating or relaxing.

Trance is when the two minds (subconscious and conscious) are fully engaged and receptive to information, meaning that this is natural, ordinary and nothing to be feared. In fact, most clients cannot wait for their session and really use this as their time to relax and enjoy.

What is one of the biggest challenges for a new client?

Unless you have had previous experience of hypnotherapy, it is often the unknown that can be a challenge.

Although hypnosis has been known and used for centuries, it has a lot of misconceptions. After your first session a lot of these misconceptions are quickly dismissed, and clients leave knowing exactly what to expect and may even look forward to their next session!

Can you make me do something whilst I am hypnotised?

This is nothing like the hypnotherapy you may have seen in a show or on television which provides a common misconception of what hypnotherapy is.

It cannot make you do anything against your will and does not have the ability to control your mind. Your mind is very clever and will disregard anything that it believes is not useful or it deems inappropriate.

To reach a hypnotic state, a client firstly must allow it and remains in control, due to the heightened focus of both the subconscious and conscious mind.

How successful is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis has been used for centuries by many well-known people all over the world, including Albert Einstein!

Although hypnotherapy has not had the funded research it deserves, despite being recognised an effective medical treatment by British Medical Association in 1955! There are many studies have shown its effectiveness in improving multiple conditions.

Does hypnotherapy work for anxiety?

Absolutely! Anxiety is what we feel when we are operating from a more primitive mind.

Hypnotherapy works specifically on reducing the primitive minds response by reducing our fight, flight, freeze responses to allow us to operate more from our intellectual brain. This is happier and able to make better judgements on situations with better, more suitable behavioural responses.

How do you feel after hypnotherapy?

Most clients report feeling extremely relaxed and often comment that it is the first time in a while they have had a moment to their self to be able to focus on relaxation. You may also feel a boost in confidence and more positive than when you came.

A lot of clients report improved sleep which can continue to improve with support of the MP3 given in the initial consultation.
